My first AAMC conference has been nothing short of amazing. I was very nervous leading up to the trip, but I am so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and made the trip. The wealth of knowledge has rejuvenated my passion for medical education as a non-clinical professional.

Plenary Sessions
The plenary sessions were so moving and set the tone for the full conference. Yes we were there to learn and grow within our professions, but to hear the words and lived experiences of Bryan Stevenson put me in awe of the true sacrifice he has made on the behalf of others and humanity as a whole. For those that don't know, he is a the Founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative. His early work life and experiences in social justice was depicted in the move "Just Mercy" in 2019.

We also got to hear from John Meacham, Pulitzer-Prize winning historian and presidential biographer. One of my favorite quotes from his talk was "In order to know someone's heart, you have to know what breaks it."

Work and Play
The overall experience was just amazing! I got the opportunity to hang out with colleagues, meet new people and learn a great amount information that I was able to bring back to my own institution. I'm looking forward to next year and what is to come!
